Things Will Never Be The Same
I know saying its "the end of an era" is cliche, but in this case it fits. There's no better way to describe Brian Dawkins signing with the Broncos. I've never been shy about my love for Dawk. Its going to be very strange not seeing Wolverine crawling out of the tunnel on gameday in the fall. Today is really a sad day. I don't think there has ever been an athlete that personified Philly better than Dawkins.
Enjoy this NFL Films piece on # 20. Try not to get choked up. I also couldn't help watching Dawk's 2008 highlights. There is some small silver lining in the fact that Dawkins was at his best until the end.

1. That video made me really sad.
2. Now I'm worried about the birds' defense this season. You can't replace his leadership for that team.
Reggie White, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson...now this.
Matt's right, you cant replace leadership. You cant teach it, either.
exactly. the team has taken a step back this offseason both on the field and in the locker room.
you could argue signing stacy andrews is an upgrade over tra or runyan on the field, and i have confidence that the quentins will hold down the safety position, but losing those guys in the locker room is what hurts.
mcnabb is a good team leader, but i don't see him as the fire-guys-up player leader. does that make sense? there's only 1 dawkins, but they lost 3 big vet presences in the locker room so far this off season.
so if you ask me, after being a game away from the super bowl, they've gotten worse despite having money to spend. great work, eagles.
