Down The Stretch They Come . . .

Its late March and College Basketball is getting almost all of the attention (nice work 'Nova, you've earned a date with the #1 seed Jayhawks later this week). Don't forget about those Sixers, though. They're currently tied for 6th place with the Raptors. They're 8 - 2 in their last 10 and are facing a tough task in the Celtics tonight. The Sixers need to find a way to beat their division rivals. They've played some close games through 3 quarters with the C's this year, but the games have all ended with a 4th quarter Sixers collapse. There's no margin for error for the Sixers now. They've got 12 more games to jockey for position in the East. Avoiding these Celtics or the Pistons is a must.

Here's your up to date standings (from NBA.com):

I can't wait to finally watch the Sixers in the playoffs. I haven't been able to watch a SINGLE game all year being in Pittsburgh (an NBA black-hole). Beating the Celtics after they just got done tearing through some of the best teams in the West?...I'm impressed. I don't think any team in the East should feel comfortable playing us right now. For a team without much playoff experience, wins against high quality teams like the Celts in the regular season are invaluable mentally.

you're going to have to update that chart, because today the Sixers are in 6th, and gunning for 5th.

i'm not ready to crown them eastern conference champs yet, but confidence combined with a higher seed may get them past the first round in the playoffs.
